Young People's Program - Children

Alcohol and drugs can hurt kids too!

The Young People's Program offers children age-appropriate support by:

• Raising awareness of the effects of alcohol.drug use on the family.
• Raising awareness of emotions and the development of age-appropriate self-expression.
• Developing communication skills and age-appropriate ways to cope with relationship problems.

Living in a family where there are alcohol/drug problems can be very stressful for kids. Children may not be getting their needs met, be confused by mixed messages and/or believe they are not safe. They may also become isolated, and find it difficult to trust others as well as their own thoughts and feelings. Holyoake's Young People's Program offers support for children in these circumstances.
