Holyoake's approach to its counselling and support is to help those affected by alcohol and or/other drugs as well as help those closest. This unique approach recognises that the impact of alcohol and other drug problems affects the whole family as well as friends.
We provide an extensive range of counselling and support programs for anyone affected by alcohol, drugs and other addictions. This includes tailored programs specifically for:
- People with alcohol, drug and other addictions, and
- People affected by a family member's addiction.
Our counselling and support programs are generally provided from our office locations using one or more of the following approaches:
These sessions involve meeting with one our counsellors, usually on a weekly basis for an agreed period of time. The number of sessions required will vary depending upon individual circumstances and this is discussed with the counsellor.
Our group programs bring together small groups of people (8-10) who are facing similar issues. Sessions are held weekly over three months and each one comprises an education component (30 minutes) followed by a group meeting (1.5 hours) where issues can be discussed in more detail. In addition, three individual counselling sessions are provided and form an integral part of the program.
