DAWN
(Drug & Alcohol Withdrawal Network) |
|
The Drug & Alcohol Withdrawl Network is another option for people who want to reduce or cease their alcohol or drug use in their own home.
We will conduct an initial assessment over the phone to get an idea of your situattion and make sure you are safe. We then invite you to make an appointment to come in and see us to plan your withdrawal. Your GP provides medical support, and we keep your GP informed of your progress.
Together we make a plan that suits your need. This is an important part of the process because we like to ensure you have the best chance of achieving your goal. In most cases you will need to have someone at home who is happy to support you.
During our visits we check your physical and emotional wellbeing, monitor your use of prescribed medications (if any), and educate and support your family as required. We help you plan your daysto change your drug or alcohol use.
During your withdrawal, we encourage you to explore options for ongoing support, such as counselling, or residential rehabilitation, and we invite you to consider long-term plans to keep your new changes in place.
Home based withdrawal is a free service which works particularly well for people who:
- have children or other responsibilities and cannot be away from home
- need to continue work
- do not wish to enter a residential detox unit
How to start?
Just ring Oake House on 9274 7055, or our head office on 9416 4444.
